4 months old, here we come!!

Well Jayden will be four months old on Monday, which we find hard to believe. (a side note: our nephew, Owen, also turns SIX that day...Amazing!). He is doing so well, growing like a weed. He's sleeping pretty well at night, and will start the night with a stretch of anywhere from 6-9 hours. Mommy loves the nine hour nights!! His reflux is about the same, maybe a little better. Still lots of puking and some fussiness during feedings here and there. He is such a happy little guy, though. He fills our days with joy and laughter!

Here are some recent pics of him. Such a cutie pie! :) Oh and also here's a video of him rolling. He's not very good at it yet! :)

finally..laughing (or at least a video of it!)

Ok so Sarah is getting a LITTLE obsessed with blogging, making videos of Jayden, and taking pictures. Oh well, its fun. Here's a video of Jayden laughing and some cute black and white shots of him, too. :) Oh and one normal picture..of tummy time again!

tummy time and laughing!

Hello all. Well as usual Jayden is growing like crazy and filling our lives with joy and laughter. He recently started doing really well with his "tummy time." He used to hate it and would lay there and cry but lately he picks his head up, looks around, smiles, and laughs. He is also working on rolling but isn't quite there yet. Here are some pics and a video to entertain everyone!!

cute outfit and bath time!!

Hey all. Here are some pictures we took last night. We dressed Jayden in his onesie that says "Firstborn" and then in matching pants. We thought he was so cute we had to take pictures. He wasn't super cooperative for the photo shoot but we got a few good ones. And there's one of him fresh out of the bath, all wrapped up in his towel. Too cute!!

for my friend Andrea...

The Rules:
1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules.
4. At the end of your blog, choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

My eight random facts and/or habits:

1. I LOVE chocolate milk. It is my favorite beverage. I will drink it till I die, not caring its a kid's drink!

2. I could eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch everyday for the rest of my life and be happy.

3.My left foot is a 1/2 size bigger than my right (and both feet are bigger since I had Jayden!).

4.I have a problem with putting the caps back on things- toothpaste, shampoo, medicine, you name it. Just ask my husband.

5. I have over 10,000 baseball cards. They are worth somewhere around 10,000 cents. Ha ha. The baseball card market is not what it once was. My brilliant "investment" plan has backfired on me. If I had saved every cent I spent on baseball cards and put it in a savings account, Dan and I could own a home in Bel Air. Instead, I have 10,000 pictures on 10,000 pieces of cardboard, most of men who no longer play and were never famous. Sad.

6. I am OBSESSED with the Discovery Health Channel. This is what bedrest will do to you. I love it.

7. I have fallen in love all over again with The Cosby Show. Its on in the middle of the night. Bill Cosby is one of the funniest people alive. Love that show. Love the values, love the laughs, love it all.

8. I have a secret wish to be a super cool doctor or physician's assistant or something. For those of you who have known me a long time, you know I was once pre-med. God had other plans in mind but I still love medicine (maybe part of the reason for number 6?). Watch out. I may go to med school when all my kids are grown, when I might be too old to see the front of the classroom. Ha ha.

Jason, you're tagged. Mary, you probably already did this for Andrea but in case you didn't, do it. :) Karen and Joe, feel free. Those are all the blogging friends I have, I think. :)

Grandma loves to take pictures of Jayden!

So Dan is now in Kenya (you can check out their blog at ccfr-kenya.blogspot.com), which means Sarah and Jayden are at Grandma and Grandpa Adams' house! For those of you who know Grandma, you know that picture taking abounds in her presence! So here are a few good ones...we are catching the smile on camera these days...yay!

And yes, that IS spit up flying out of his mouth in the second pic. IT was not intentional to get it on film, just happened. :) Dan called from Kenya today and is doing well. Jayden even "talked" to him on the phone. Ha ha. Well its off to bed. Check out the Kenya blog!!

Sunday, July 15, 2007

Hey everyone!! Sorry we're lame and its been a few weeks since we updated the blog. Jayden is now 7 1/2 weeks old. Can you believe it? We had his 8 week check up a bit early so Daddy could come before he heads off for Kenya. Jayden weighed in at a strapping 9 pounds, 10 ounces and is 21 1/2 inches long!!! That means he's gained 3 pounds and 7 ounces since coming home and grown 2 1/2 inches!! The doctor said he looks "just great"! He also had his first round of shots and screamed like crazy but recovered pretty quickly. His reflux is getting a little better. We have good days and bad days. He's sleeping like a champ some nights, even going 10-5:30 one night (Sarah thought she'd died and gone to heaven!). He is now on Prilosec for his reflux which is helping way more than the Zantac did. So yay for that. Here are a BUNCH of pictures since its been so long!!

This one is very exciting!!! We took Jayden to his first Dodger game and he met a Dodger, Wilson Betemit!! And after meeting Jayden and rubbing his head, Betemit went 3 for 4 with a double, single, and a home run. We think Jayden is good luck!!

Here's Jayden hanging out in his crib one day, watching his "birdies" (its a mobile with birds on it, we're just weird and call it his time with his birdies!).

Here's some from today of him sitting up against the couch cushions. He's become quite the little smiler but its hard to catch on film. And then here's one of him asleep on Daddy, his favorite place to sleep. Daddy doesn't mind too much either.

And then here's one Sarah caught of him crying. He really didn't cry very much for the first four or five weeks so we kind of think its cute still. I'm sure if he screamed a lot we wouldn't!! Thanks so much for checking in and reading. And any of you L.A. folk, Sarah will be around for two weeks so come by, call, come see Jayden!!

grrr...reflux!!!

Hey everyone!! Just thought we'd post a quick update on how our little guy is doing. He is now 4 weeks old, which is amazing! He weighed in at 7 pounds 14 ounces at the doctor yesterday. So he has gained 1 pound and 13 ounces since leaving the hospital. When you're as little as he is, that's a lot!! :) The bummer is that our little guy has really bad reflux. That basically means his food tries to come back up. So lots of spitting up, and lots of pain for him. :( He is having a hard time sleeping cause when he lays down it makes it worse. So we got a wedge for his crib to keep him inclined. It helps sometimes but he also like scoot down off of it! Silly guy. The doctor has started him on baby Zantac which will help with the pain and the sleeping, hopefully, but not the spitting up. Sleep has been difficult for Sarah since he grunts in pain even in his sleep. And with the monitor on, he might as well be grunting in her ear!! So please pray that the baby Zantac will help him sleep better and not be in so much pain. Here's one cute pic from recently! We have more to upload. This is him asleep on Daddy. :)

Hey everyone!!! Here are some more recent pics of our little guy. He looks so different to us these days..you'll have to see if you notice a difference!!

I'm one week old today!!!

My first bath!! I love it!!

Mom and Dad think I'm cute and take pictures of me all the time!!

I'm two weeks old today in this pic below....a little blurry, but cute nonetheless!!!

And one more...asleep with Mommy!!

We can't believe Jayden will be three weeks old tomorrow. Time sure does fly!!! He has stopped his frequent visits to the pediatrician which is great. And at his check up last week, he was up to 7 pounds and 19 3/4 inches. So he's growing a lot and can finally fit into some of his newborn stuff and some of his preemie sized clothes are getting a little snug. Yay!! Thanks for checking in. We love it when you comment!!! And we love all of you.

10 days old today!

Hey everyone!! Well Jayden is 10 days old today. It has flown by in a lot of ways. We've had an eventful week or so since we brought him home. His umbilical cord stump started bleeding quite a bit last Monday night and we ended up in the ER with him early Tuesday morning. The doctor said he was fine (which he was) but we have been back to the doctor four more times for it since. But FINALLY on Friday our pediatrician declared him all better on Friday! So we are now bestest friends with our pediatrician, who we adore! And then on Thursday Sarah landed herself in the ER with a severe urinary tract infection which required some serious painkillers and antibiotics but all is well now and we think life is getting back to "normal". We are definitely tired, definitely don't enjoy being up three times a night, but it is worth it for Jayden!! He is so precious!! Can't say we have any other updates besides those. Here are a few more pics for your enjoyment. We took pics of his first full bath last night but haven't uploaded them yet...SO keep checking back!! We love you all. Thanks so much for all the phone calls, emails, etc. If you've called and we haven't called you back, please refer to the beginning part of this post for an explanation. We are working on returning calls!!

he has arrived!!!

As hopefully you all know by now, Jayden Matthew Stephens is here. He arrived May 24th at 7:56AM, weighing in at 6 lbs, 9 ounces and is 19 inches long. He is ADORABLE and TINY. We are totally in love. We only have a couple pics on the computer so far so here they are. The one of all three of us is just a few minutes after he was born. Sarah's looking a LITTLE worked, don't you think? :) We'll post more pics as we upload them. We're home as of today and enjoying our time with the little one. Thanks for all the calls, texts, emails, etc. We love you all!! Oh and for those of you who have asked, yes, his hair does seem to be a bit red. More blonde than anything! keep checking back!

still here..still pregnant!!

Hey everyone!! Just thought we would let you all know that Jayden is still cooking, which is a great thing!! All the rest and water seems to have kept the blood pressure under control. Yay!! We are excited about that. We are hoping he hangs on in there until his Auntie Andrea, Uncle Sam, and cousins get here next week. So far, there haven't been any signs that labor is impending so we're just waiting, finishing getting ready. We're still waiting on his changing table to arrive and once that does, we should have everything we need. Yay!! Here's a pic Sarah's mom took on Mother's Day. He's getting pretty big in there!

Keep checking back for updates. All of you should be on our email list for when he arrives. So watch that email, k? :)

a free woman!!

Hey everyone!!! So here's a recent belly shot. Getting bigger by the day!! This isn't the best shot but its something!! :)

As of this last Friday, the doctor took Sarah off to work due to her blood pressure being elevated. So while she is ECSTATIC to be done with work, it means going in twice weekly to check amniotic fluid levels and for Jayden to be monitored. So far, he has passed with flying colors and should be good to stay in there for awhile. :) We like that plan. So please pray that with the resting and everything, the blood pressure will continue to stay down and Jayden can "cook" in there until he's good and ready to come out.

We'll update you with more info as we have it. Have a great day and thanks for reading!!

Jayden's room!!

Hey all! We've been working on getting little Jayden's room ready. Two weekends ago was deemed "Jayden prep weekend" and we got a lot done! His crib is completely ready for him to sleep in, his name is on the wall, Sarah's mom helped her put up the wallpaper border a couple weekends before all this...we are so excited things are starting to take shape!! All we really need now is a changing table/dresser so we can get his diapers, wipes, etc. put away and some of his clothes too!! So here are some fun shots!!

Here's a picture of the letters hanging on his wall:
And here's a shot of the crib 100% done and ready for him:

And here's a shot of his SUPER cute comforter that we both just LOVE!! :)

We can't believe his due date is only 7 weeks away now. And since he could come up to two weeks early, that means he could be here in FIVE weeks. WOW WOW WOW!!! We are so excited, though! Thanks for sharing in our joy! :) Oh and if you haven't made a guess about his arrival day, weight, length, etc. go for it. Here's the link:
