grrr...reflux!!!

Hey everyone!! Just thought we'd post a quick update on how our little guy is doing. He is now 4 weeks old, which is amazing! He weighed in at 7 pounds 14 ounces at the doctor yesterday. So he has gained 1 pound and 13 ounces since leaving the hospital. When you're as little as he is, that's a lot!! :) The bummer is that our little guy has really bad reflux. That basically means his food tries to come back up. So lots of spitting up, and lots of pain for him. :( He is having a hard time sleeping cause when he lays down it makes it worse. So we got a wedge for his crib to keep him inclined. It helps sometimes but he also like scoot down off of it! Silly guy. The doctor has started him on baby Zantac which will help with the pain and the sleeping, hopefully, but not the spitting up. Sleep has been difficult for Sarah since he grunts in pain even in his sleep. And with the monitor on, he might as well be grunting in her ear!! So please pray that the baby Zantac will help him sleep better and not be in so much pain. Here's one cute pic from recently! We have more to upload. This is him asleep on Daddy. :)

Poor baby! Megan had horrible reflux until she was about 4 1/2 mos old. I would nurse her, and she would spit up what seemed like every ounce she got out of me. : (

Definite sympathies sent your way! I wanted to mention though, Sarah, that you might get more sleep if you put him in bed with you, that way there's no getting up at night to nurse. You just roll over and let him nurse. : ) I found that this helped Megan some with her reflux as well, because she wasn't being moved around at night for feedings.

Hope things get better soon. If not, just remember that this is a season. We hope to see you guys soon!

Hugs,
Christy & Jeramy

My sister made a sling out of some of my old sarongs. easy peasey, and you can get old sarongs anywhere. I have been told that slings are good because the baby can sit a little upright, and are very comfortable with little movement. My sister just passed one on (by popular demand) to a teacher at her son's school for her baby's reflux problems.
Jayden is lookin pretty hot. You guys make a good lookin kid!
